Wild Days Out is run by Leah Fairman
After 20 years living outside of Ireland..
... I returned to Donegal in 2016 to get closer to the life I had loved growing up.
And I knew that I wanted to spend time introducing others to the beautiful Donegal countryside, and to the benefits of getting outside and having mini-adventures.
Whether it's the health benefits of physical exercise, the mental wellbeing aspect of spending time in nature. Or maybe it's the social side of spending time with people who love the things you love, I have seen over many years the joy and confidence spending time outside can bring to our lives..
I've been fortunate to hike all over the world...
... and to tick off some major childhood bucket list dreams - like walking in the Himalayas. I'll never forget looking out of the window as the plane circled over Kathmandu and seeing all those snow-capped mountains surrounded by bright blue sky.
Or hiking into Manchu Picchu from the Inca Trail in the Andes. And getting on a train headed for the Artic Circle to hike the Konigs Weg in Norway.
I've solo-hiked unsupported on multi-day treks. And I've joined pre-organised group tours and hiked with groups of complete strangers. I've organised walking festivals and led weekly walking groups.
I'm a qualified Lowland Walk Leader, and am certified in Outdoor First Aid and Mental Health First Aid.
